ABOUT PORSCHIA
Porschia Clark Pickett prides herself on serving as an active contributor to her local community. With years of experience working with individuals from all walks of life, Porschia has successfully cultivated a career that emphasizes academic, social, and spiritual development. Porschia was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but raised in Brighton/Covington, Tennessee. Her mother (Tandra Young) instilled the importance of academic excellence, co-curricular learning, and church engagement. As such, Porschia spent her youth and teen years striving for excellence, both inside and outside of the classroom. More importantly, she and her siblings were extremely involved in their local church (Hill Chapel Missionary Baptist Church – Memphis, TN), where she served as an active member in several auxiliaries, including the Dance Ministry.
After graduating from Brighton High School, Porschia matriculated to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Soon afterwards, she graduated from Carson-Newman University in December of 2016 with a Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship, with a concentration in Christian Community Development. Through her academic journey, she acquired innovative tactics to promote holistic development, specifically focusing on personal, professional, physical, cultural, and spiritual development. As such, she has held a successful career within the non-profit sector, focusing on the development and implementation of intentional programming for young people.
Beyond her professional work history, Porschia has devoted her free time to uplifting her local community through her engagement in youth programming and spiritual development. Porschia served as a Youth Leader for several years at Overcoming Believers Church- Knoxville, TN, and is serving as a Girl Talk mentor for almost a decade. Porschia aims to use her personal experiences to inspire as many people as possible. Through her spiritual journey, she hopes to uplift others and serve as a spiritual catalyst for their growth. One of her favorite quotes comes from famed writer, poet and activist, Maya Angelou – “Do the best you can, until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” As such, she prays that her transparency and vulnerability through this devotion will inspire others to seek God like never before, while they’re in the “The Waiting Room.”
Porschia currently resides in Knoxville, TN with her husband (Craig Pickett, Jr.) and their young daughter (Carrington Pickett).
